International Curriculum

Years 7-9 Curriculum

Students study the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) for three years. The MYP builds upon the knowledge, skills and attitudes developed in the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and prepares students to meet future academic challenges, including IGCSE, BTEC and the IB Diploma Programme (DP).

Learn More

Years 10-11 Curriculum

Years 10 & 11 follow the British GCSE, IGCSE or BTEC curricula and lead to examinations and qualifications in each subject. Typically each course spans two years, in Years 10 and 11, with final exams and coursework presented in May or June of Year 11.

Learn More

Years 12-13 Curriculum

Students choose to either study a broad-based International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) or to focus their studies and follow a specialised vocational pathway which centres around one or more BTEC qualifications. IBDP and BTEC classes are capped at 16. These small classes enable students to grow as learners in a supportive and nurturing learning environment.

The academic highs. The supportive and nurturing teachers. The sports and games which I enjoyed even though I wasn't very good. And above all, the great, great friends who have remained my friends to this day.

Went through my IB years mostly at home and was a great challenge for me. That was the not so good part but I had lots of amazing memories as house captains and dance captain!

What's new at KGV?

Our 130th Anniversary Gala wasn't just a dinner, it was a spectacular show! We're sharing the second round of photo highlights, dedicated to the incredible talent on display during the Gala!

The evening was a reflection of the KGV community's diversity, featuring stunning student performances from a student band and a beautiful traditional Chinese Zither group to a mesmerizing traditional Indian dance (Kathak). We also enjoyed a heartwarming solo from staff member Precious Adams.

Adding to the atmosphere we had Drum Jam, turning all our guests into participants for a wonderfully interactive and rhythmic activity/performance.

The night ended on a high note with The Red Stripes, who are part of our KGV and ESF community, took the stage!

A massive thank you to all the performers who made the night unforgettable!

We'd like to focus our lens on our teacher, Mr. Alex Huda! Now in his 3rd year at KGV, Mr. Huda brings a world-class vision directly into our classrooms.

He believes in more than just taking pictures:
"For me, the practice of photography is fundamentally a commitment to speculative inquiry - seeing the world not just as it is, but as it could be. I bring the professional rigor of my long-term projects—including pitching, critique, and resilience—directly into the classroom. This approach elevates student standards, preparing them to successfully enter global competitions and secure early publishing opportunities. Beyond professional growth, my passion fosters a profound sense of creative belonging across the campus. The Annual Photography Competition and Exhibition transforms our school into a massive, shared gallery where every student learns an essential truth: their unique vision is powerful and deserves to be framed."

Alex recently received the Director’s Fellowship at the International Center of Photography in New York. His project, We Are the Things Monsters Love, was recently honoured with the Jury Top 5 and an Honorable Mention at the 2025 International Photography Awards!

It's teachers like Alex Huda who inspire our students to see the world differently and realize their creative potential. Stay tuned for more teacher profiles!

A massive congratulations to Kylton, Lianna, Adrian, and Angel! A special thank you also goes out to Ms. Fawdry for her support to these students!

We are proud to announce they placed 3rd overall in the Senior Secondary Division of the Hong Kong Science Fair (HKSF) for their outstanding project, VeinSensei! Their journey included an exclusive media event and interviews with Cable News and SCMP as the only international school selected for a special feature.

Adrian even presented the project on RTHK on the final day! Now, the team is mentoring this year's HKSF applicants and planning to enter more competitions with their award-winning work. Keep an eye out for their continued success!

We are still buzzing from the success of our 130th Anniversary Gala! This event was a tribute to 130 years of the King George V School community and a powerful step towards our future.

From inspirational remarks by EDB Secretary Dr. Choi, ESF CEO Belinda Greer and many more to exceptional performances from members of our community.

We also had a Silent Auction and exciting Lucky Draw.

The funds raised will directly support student scholarships and project funds, securing a brighter future for generations of KGV students. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our heritage. We hope to see you all again at the next one!

A special thank you goes out to those who helped us make this event happen, such as the PTSA as co-hosts of the event, our amazing MC Anders Nelsson, The KGV Alumni Association and distinguished guests who took the time to be here with us.
